Ernest Andriyovych Gurtovenko (1928-1994) was a Ukrainian astronomer and he was the founder of the Kyiv school of the solar spectrography. He was the designer of a double-pass solar spectrograph with which the scales of oscillator strengths of 2000 lines in the solar spectrum were established.
