Jaap Ponsen (1931–1961) was a Leiden astronomer who worked on variable stars and made observations at the southern Leiden Station at Hartebeespoortdam {see planet  (1914)}. He died on his return trip to Leiden. The citation was prepared by U. Schwarz. (M 43190) _ _.
