Chinese astrophysicist and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Huang Runqian (b. 1933) has made many contributions to astrophysics. He established a theory of the nonconservative evolution of binary stars, a theory of shock waves from colliding winds, and a theory of the evolution of rotating binary stars.
