Norman Ernest Borlaug (1914-2009), a U.S. agronomist and a central figure in the “green revolution”, collaborated for many years with Mexican scientists on the development of new wheat varieties. In 1970 he received the Nobel Peace Prize and subsequently pursued efforts to eliminate hunger in Asia and Africa.
