Gáspár Bakos (b. 1976) is the father for the Hungarian-made Automated Telescope Network (HATNet) designed to detect and characterize extrasolar planets and to find and to study bright variable stars. He has been awarded the 2011 Newton Lacy Pierce prize of the American Astronomical Society.
