Named in honor of Canon Georges Lemaître (1894–1966), professor of astronomy and celestial mechanics at the University of Louvain. He was a recognized authority on relativity, the three-body problem and cosmology. He was president of the Pontifical Academy, and he received the first Franqui Prize in Belgium. (M 3824) _ _.
