Piet Hut (b. 1952) is a professor of astrophysics at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, N.J. He has researched the dynamics of star clusters and comet clouds. Hut is a cofounder of the B612 Foundation, whose goal is to produce a significant alteration in the orbit of a minor planet in a controlled manner.
