Seiji Manabe (b. 1947) was a project manager of the VLBI Exploration of Radio Astronomy, which led to the high-precision determination of trigonometric parallaxes for Galactic radio sources. He served as head of the Earth Rotation Division at the National Observatory of Japan and as director of Mizusawa Observatory.
