The town of Pulyny (currently Chervonoarmijsk) in the north of Ukraine and nearby settlements were the birthplace of the poets and novelists Girsh Diamont (1911-1941), Ernst Kontschak (1903-1979) and Svyatoslav Borodulin (b. 1927).
