Named in memory of Franz Kaiser (1891–1962), astronomer at the Heidelberg-Königstuhl Observatory from 1911 to 1914. In 1914 Kaiser modified and improved the formulae for deriving photographic positions of minor planets by the interpolation method. He discovered 21 numbered minor planets. (M 22497) _ _.
