Named for Boduognat, chief of the Nerviens, a Belgian tribe in the provinces of Hainaut and Brabant. Boduognat fought against the Roman invaders led by Julius Caesar and was defeated and killed at the battle of Sambre {see planet  (4016)} in 59 B.C. (M 23792) _ _.
