Zdeněk Matyáš (1914-1956), Czech theoretical physicist, one of the founders of Czechoslovak solid state physics, inspired by his stay with Neville Mott at the Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge, in the late 1940s. He worked in the field of semiconductors and is the author of the first Czech monograph on this subject.
