Named in honor of Scott D. Tremaine (1950– ). Tremaine has made seminal contributions to solar-system and galactic dynamics. He is co-author with James Binney of the leading monograph on galactic dynamics. Since 1985 Tremaine has been director of the Canadian Institute for Theoretic Astrophysics in Toronto, and the success of that organization owes much to his vision and leadership. (M 27458) _ _.
