Noboru Okada (1953-2002?) was a Japanese adventurer, photographer, moun-tain-climber and amateur astronomer who installed a 0.5-m telescope at the Yatsugatake mountain base. In Jan. 2002 he disappeared while climbing alone in the Japan North Alps.
