Named in honor of Bo A. S. Gustafson (1953– ) of the University of Florida, Gainesville. Gustafson has specialized in studying the formation, evolution and fate of small particles in the solar system. Along with J. M. Greenberg, his name is associated with the “bird’s nest” model of cometary grains as very porous aggregates. His work concerns both dynamics and physics, including optical properties in particular. Since 1994 he has led the Laboratory for Astrophysics in Gainesville, pursuing microwave simulation of light scattering. (M 27458) _ _.
