In a poem by German philosopher Kurd Lasswitz (1848-1910) the sweetheart of a student of Argelander was impressed that the BD had 320~000 stars. The lad assured her that “I wish them to hell for a kiss from your lips!”. Later, in a dream, his boss warned he would have no success in life until he kissed her 320~000 times.
