Akane Maruta (1988-1998) was a girl who loved stars. She was killed in an accident caused by a drunk driver. The Akane Astronomical Observatory was built in her memory. A public concert is held there every May to honor her around the time of her birthday. The name was suggested by N. Matsumoto.
