Yuzuru Yoshii (b. 1951) is the director of the Institute of Astronomy, University of Tokyo. His research interest includes formation and evolution of galaxies, galactic dynamics, and observational cosmology. He is famous for his discovery of the thick-disk component of the Milky Way galaxy.
