Named for Luca della Robbia (1400–1482) and his family of most important Italian sculptors. Apart from Donatello and Ghiberti {see planets  (6056) and  (6054)}, he was the greatest sculptor in the Early Renaissance. His first sculpture was the marble pulpit in the cathedral of Florence, and he also made reliefs for its campanile. He is mostly recognized by his clay reliefs with colored enamel. (M 26764) _ _.
