Named in memory of Takakazu Seki (1642–1708), Japanese mathematician and calendar scientist in Japan. His many achievements include the formulation of determinants ten years before Leibniz {see planet  (5149)}. In 1674 he developed a theory of differential and integral calculus. (M 34626) _ _.
