Named in honor of Tetsuji Yamada (b. 1952), a well-known amateur astronomer in western Japan and the first secretary of the Fukuoka Astronomical Society (1977-1981). He has a large astronomical following, complementing his strong interest in astronomy education. His major interests include observing planets and comets. Name proposed by the discoverers following a suggestion by Y. Yamada.
