Andrzej Tadeusz Bonawentura Kościuszko (1746-1817) was a Polish military engineer who assisted in the American revolution with the design and building of military fortifications, including at West Point, New York. He led a 1794 attempt for independence of Poland from Imperial Russia, known as the Kościuszko uprising.
