The Dwingeloo 25-m radio telescope in The Netherlands supported investigations of the 21-cm emission from hydrogen in our Galaxy. Its principal contributions include the discoveries of the 3-kpc arm and the high-velocity-cloud phenomenon, as well as studies of the galactic center. The name was suggested by W. A. Froger.
