Albert Gillis von Baumhauer (1891–1939) invented the tail rotor for helicopters and built the first Dutch helicopter, which took off on 1925 Dec. 17. He was strongly involved in pioneering gliding in the Netherlands and was killed in the Boeing Stratoliner plane crash in 1939. (M 41569) _ _.
