Since my new book “Saturn: Spiritual Master, Spiritual Friend” contains more than a few gems of wisdom and insight, from time to time I’ve posted a few pieces from various parts of the work. Today we take a brief look at the progressed Moon’s relationship to Saturn and the other planets.

Over the span of 27 years, the progressed Moon makes every possible aspect to all our planets, giving us every possible phase relationship between our progressed emotional experience and our natal inclinations. Every conjunction, square, or opposition the progressed Moon makes to a planet or the Ascendant brings phase shifts in how our feelings relate to various parts of our personality. These happen at different times within the 27 years for each of us based in the natal planetary positions.

When the progressed Moon conjuncts our Sun, we get a whole new feel and sensitivity about our natal Light/Life. As it makes all the aspects to the Sun, we are provided points of dynamic change in how we feel about our Light. It is the same with all the other planets. The progressed Moon puts the focus on our innate tendencies each time it conjuncts a natal planet, and how we respond as it makes aspects to that planet gives us information about when and how we must nurture the best expression of those personality traits.

A progressed Lunar conjunction always gives us a chance to re-set how we’re experiencing and expressing each planetary function. One of the most important contacts is when the progressed Moon conjuncts natal Saturn, because we get an inner emotional reset related to how we feel about our duties, obligations, and perceived deficiencies. Feelings of being weighted down, stifled, or incompetent need to be examined so that we get clear about how to change, leaving behind those things which frustrate us. The progressed Moon conjunct natal Saturn is a crucial point where we get clear about whether our inner Saturn function is expressing our power, or we feel oppressed and very heavy inside. In both cases, we are given unmistakable signals about the health of our inner Saturn.

Throughout life, our progressed Moon makes all the aspects with our natal Saturn, each one revealing how we feel about the burdens of our life, and how willing we are to reject what oppresses us and accept the power to change what we can. Regardless of the aspects made, even the hardest of frictional angles is only as “unfortunate” as we allow it to be. Even if an aspect accompanies difficult or life-shattering events, we still have the power to liberate our view from the limitations of the moment while doing what we must. Then even afflictions become blessings, since they force us to get clear and mobilize on our own behalf.

This book takes an entirely new look at our inner Saturn and the power it gives us to take command of our lives and destiny. If Saturn represents all that limits us and holds us back, it’s only because we must master those lessons so we may become spiritual adults and fulfill our purpose for being alive on Earth. By knowing our Saturnian strengths, we can overcome fear and any sense of victimization or powerlessness.

It was written for both astrologers and non-astrologers. I’ve gotten very good feedback from all kinds of people from many backgrounds in many nations, and it seems the work accomplishes my intention: to write a book which would be universally accessible, would open the doors to self-awareness and self-empowerment, and awaken new insights each time any part of it is read.

It gives you the power to understand why some things happened when they did, and offers ways for you to “make friends” with this part of you to take command of your destiny. You will become more aware of how your life has facilitated your Soul growth through understanding how Saturn relates to Dharma and various types of karma, and the Ring-Pass-Not, or that part of us which must learn certain lessons so we can find purpose and meaning in each chapter of life.

The second part of the book examines how Saturn cycles mark major points of choice and change throughout life, and what we can expect when Saturn makes conjunctions, squares, and oppositions to our planets and Ascendant. There are tables assisting the reader to know when Saturn was in each sign, so even those with little or no understanding of astrology can track the timing on their major life changes. There is an entire chapter dedicated to the Saturn Return, perhaps the most important times in life when our decisions profoundly shape our future.

Part two closes with a chapter on one of the most crucial factors in our personal unfoldment: how the progressed Moon and transiting Saturn cycles track each other throughout life and relate to our emotional growth, and a chapter on a global phenomenon happening since 2003 impacting everyone on Earth. The Epilogue offers a few insights about living “the spiritual life,” and opens dimensions of higher and broader possibilities of personal evolution, regardless of which path to Truth we may be on.
