An astronomer at Lowell Observatory from 1969 until 2007, Nathaniel Miller White (b. 1941) studied close binaries and measured stellar angular diameters using high-speed photometry of lunar occultations. From 1992 until his retirement, he was Lowell's lead scientist in the Navy Prototype Optical Interferometer project.
