James P. McDanell (1937– ) spent nearly three decades with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory before retiring in 1999. He was the Voyager Navigation Team Chief during the highly successful encounters with Saturn and its satellites. He subsequently became manager of the Navigation Systems Section. (M 41938) _ _.
