Antoine-François de Fourcroy (1755-1809) was a French chemist and co-founder of the Ecole polytechnique. A pioneer in animal and plant chemistry, he collaborated with Lavoisier in reforming the system of chemical nomenclature. In 1782 he published his Leçons élémentaire d´histoire naturelle et de chemie (2 vol.).
