Named in honor of the Danish astronomer Prof. Elis Strömgren (1870–1947) who was director of the Copenhagen University Observatory, and director of the Bureau Central des Télégrammes Astronomiques. (H 128) Strömgren is also honored by a lunar crater. _ _.
