Christian Veillet (b. 1954) was for several years head of the lunar-ranging station at the Observatoire de la Côte d´Azur. Now senior astronomer for the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope, he is project scientist for the megaprime project. He recently discovered that the transneptunian object 1998 WW31 is a binary.
