Named in honor of Paul Herget {1908–1981}, Director of the Cincinnati Observatory and distinguished service professor in the University of Cincinnati. He was founder of the Minor Planet Center in 1947, and a pioneer in the application of high speed computers to astronomical problems and one of the most skilled practitioners of this art at the present time. He was a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, and past president of Commission 20 of the International Astronomical Union. (M 3143) _ _.
