Named in honor of Keishin Suzuki (1905– ), professor of astronomy at Tokyo Gakugei University, an expert on practical astronomy and teaching of astronomy. He played the principal part in first publishing the Japanese Nautical Almanac, when astronomical almanacs could not be imported during the second World War. He has made a great contribution to the teaching and popularization of astronomy in Japan, mainly by writing or translating a great many books and articles over a period of more than fifty years.
