Named in honor of Cordula (Cordie) Astrid Robinson, planetary geologist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. Cordula gained her Ph.D. from University College, London, studying the crustal dichotomy of Mars, and she is currently using Magellan data to investigate the surface electrical properties on Venus with respect to geochemical and weathering processes.
