Named in memory of Margarita Mikhailovna Tuchkova (1781–1852), who built the Temple Spas Nerukotvorny in 1820. She founded the Spaso-Borodinskij nunnery in 1839 in honor of the battle at Borodino (1812) {see planet  (3544)} where her husband and brother-in-law were killed. Her monastic name was Mother Maria.
