Named after Karl Friedrich Schinkel (1781–1841), German architect and painter. He lived in Italy for two years. His style was mostly classicistic, but he also admired the Gothic style. His best known buildings are Schloss Charlottenhof in the park of Sanssouci and the mausoleum for Queen Luise of Prussia. (M 22508; M 24781) _ _.
