Named for the capital city of Argentina. First founded in 1536 by Don Pedro de Mendoza, who named it Santa Maria de los Buenos Aires, the city was soon destroyed by the natives. It was founded anew in 1580 by Don Juan de Garay. (M 30803) _ _.
