Named in honor of Sanjirou Sakabe (1923– ), an amateur astronomer who studied under the late Issei Yamamoto {see planet  (2249)}. Sakabe is the founder of the Dynic Astronomical Observatory, which contributes to the spread of astronomy in the surrounding area. (M 32349) _ _.
