Named in memory of Zdeněk Kvíz (1932-1993), Czech astronomer. His early works dealt with meteor showers, although his main interest was in light curves of close binaries and eclipsing binaries. Beginning in 1968 he lived in Australia, working also in Switzerland. The Czech Astronomical Society prize for young astronomers bears his name. Name suggested by J. Ticha.
