Named in honor of Takashi Fukuoka (b. 1948), director of the planetarium at Sanbe Shizenkan Open Field Museum, Shimane Prefecture, and president of the San-in Society of Astronomy. A hardworking and painstaking planner of astronomy events and workshops, he is particularly concerned with meeting the needs of those new to astronomy in his local area. His main research is luminosity functions of globular clusters. Name proposed by the discoverers following a suggestion by Y. Yamada.
