Elmer J. Reese (1919– ), American amateur astronomer, was an important contributing observer in the early years of the Association of Lunar and Planetary Observers, serving on its volunteer staff. His hypothesis of subsurface sources to explain the South Equatorial belt disturbances at the cloud deck on Jupiter is well known. (M 39651) _ _.
