Named for Peter Vischer the Elder (c. 1460-1529), the greatest German brass-caster master in the Middle Ages. Ledgers, tombs, artistic parcloses, baptismal fonts and statues made of bronze from his workshop in Nürnberg can be found throughout Germany. His father and sons also worked in this foundry. His masterpiece is the world-renowned Sebaldusgrab in St. Sebald church at Nürnberg, made during 1508-1519. Name proposed by the first discoverer.

Discovered on 2-9-1992 in Tautenburg by Borngen, F., Schmadel, L. D.
