Heinrich Gustav Johannes Kayser (1853–1940) was a German physicist who demonstrated the presence of helium in the earth’s atmosphere. Using the spectra of a large number of elements, he discovered closely grouped spectral lines, the spacing and intensity of which vary in a regular manner. (M 39655) _ _.
